A 43-year-old man was shot dead in the Nigerian state of Bauchi after being used as a human guinea pig for a bulletproof experiment. This is what police spokesperson Ahmed Wakil told the press, according to which the shooter was a traditional healer who fired the shot with a locally made gun. The man was arrested along with two other people, while other suspects remain at large. The victim was identified as Muhammadu Ali, a resident of the area.
Police responded quickly after learning of the incident and rushed the victim to hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. The police are investigating the matter. Bulletproof amulets with purported magical properties are commonly used in Nigeria, where many people seek assistance from traditional healers to address their concerns. However, there have been several cases of deaths resulting from similar tests.
