The military junta of Burkina Faso has announced the restoration of diplomatic relations with North Korea. The foreign minister of Ouagadougou announced it in a note, Olivia Rouamba. "This recovery will allow North Korea and Burkina Faso to maintain exemplary bilateral cooperation in various fields such as the security sector, through the concession of military equipment and materials to our country, and the mining, health, agricultural and research sectors", explained the head of Burkinabe diplomacy, recalling that Burkina Faso had for some time "excellent relations" with Pyongyang, which was a privileged partner of the African country during the period of the August 1983 Revolution.

The decision was announced after yesterday's Council of Ministers and follows the appointment of an ambassador of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in Burkina Faso, with residence in Dakar, in the person of Chae Hui Chol.
