Francesca Tango, director of the Ice agency office in Tunis, underlined ad "Nova Agency" that “Tunisia is a hub for production, investment and trade throughout the African continent for European and Italian companies”. To date, with the year not yet over, the Ice office in Tunis has already provided assistance services to over 660 client companies. The Tunis office represents the 11th office of the foreign network for assistance services provided (after Berlin, New York, Madrid, Los Angeles, Miami, Brussels, Paris, Istanbul, Algiers, Beijing), as well as the second office of the network on the continent African after Algeria. A figure that would testify to "an ever lively and growing interest, despite the presence of a global geopolitical context of great changes. The companies that approach the Ice offices receive, especially on this market, assistance in terms of customs, fiscal, legal, currency information, market surveys, profiles of foreign operators selected by sector, online consultancy", explained the director in a interview with “Nova”.
Tango highlighted that “the activity of Ice-Agenzia Tunisi represents an important point of reference, which we are able to provide not only for a first approach and orientation on the market, but also for in-depth analysis of a technical-operational-regulatory nature. Furthermore, relationships with the local entrepreneurial and associative fabric are consolidated and constant. At the end of November 2023 we have already organized the welcome of 28 delegations of foreign operators from Tunisia to Italy, visiting districts and trade fair events, for a total of over 85 delegates, who held targeted meetings and B2Bs and five on-site initiatives at in which a total of 177 Italian companies and 200 local companies participated".
According to the director, there are still numerous elements that place Tunisia at the center of the Mediterranean despite a complex geopolitical and economic context: the favorable geographical position, favorable investment conditions in terms of taxation and incentives for development in dedicated areas, reduced taxation to 15 percent for those who export at least 50 percent of production, 90 percent education rate, specialized labor, high number of universities, specialized districts. Finally, Tunisia's membership of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (Comesa) can offer businesses investing in or trading with Tunisia a preferential access channel to a market of 21 countries and 560 million potential consumers. “Tunisia is therefore configured as a hub for production, investments and trade for the entire African continent for European and Italian companies”, declared Tango again.
From the report “Africa's macroeconomic performance and prospects” presented in Abidjan, in 2023-24 Africa will grow like no other in the world. “It is the African Development Bank itself – highlights the director of Ice – that predicts that Africa's economic growth will exceed that of the rest of the world at the end of 2024, with real gross domestic product increasing by around 4 percent , a young population and a growing and urbanized middle class". Ice agency for the promotion abroad and the internationalization of Italian companies is the body through which the Italian government promotes the consolidation and economic-commercial development of companies on foreign markets, with a network of over 70 offices and points of correspondence abroad. “We carry out information, assistance, promotion and training activities aimed at small and medium-sized Italian companies wishing to internationalize or consolidate their presence on foreign markets through commercial and industrial collaborations, promoting Made in Italy around the world,” concluded Tango.
