US and International Coalition forces against the Islamic State, stationed near the Euphrates River in Syria, were subjected to a missile attack. A US official declared this to CNN yesterday, according to which the missile did not hit the base and there were no deaths or injuries. Furthermore, no damage was reported to infrastructure.
This is the first attack on US forces in the region since the beginning of the truce between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip. US forces have been attacked at least 74 times since October 17, most notably by pro-Iranian Shiite militias in Iraq and Syria.
