As far as we know, the group's activities stellantis in Serbia they were one of the topics addressed by the Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and the Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic in their meeting today in Belgrade. This was also confirmed by Vucic, who in joint statements to the press after the meeting stated that Stellantis will start with the production of the electric Panda in Kragujevac.
In addition to the production of the electric Panda, said the Serbian head of state, "it could be the driver of new investments in the automotive sector, where there are enormous direct investments". Fiat has been present in Serbia, in the historic Kragujevac plant, since 2008. The investment, worth 950 million euros, is the largest ever made in Serbia. In the plant, 30 percent owned by the Serbian state, the Fiat 500 L model was produced until last year, employing around two thousand workers. On April 28, 2022, Stellantis and the Belgrade government signed a new agreement for an investment worth 190 million euros, of which 48 million financed by the Serbian state. Under the agreement, the production of a Fiat brand electric car will start in Kragujevac, starting in mid-2024. The plant is currently closed for the reconversion of the production lines.
