A record hailstorm hit the Veneto region causing 110 people to be injured as well as extensive damage. UDC Senator, Antonio De Poli, asked that the government “declare a state of emergency in the Municipalities affected by an exceptional wave of bad weather which has, unfortunately, caused extensive damage to agriculture, homes and businesses. The communities have experienced nightmare moments. I sincerely thank the rescuers, firefighters and civil protection volunteers who ensured their important presence in the emergency".

"After the storm that hit the Dolomites area - adds the parliamentarian -, yesterday there were violent hailstorms in all the provinces of the Veneto region, especially in Padua, Limena, Noventa Padovana, Vigonza, but above all in the Upper Padua area: in Cittadella, Carmignano di Brenta, Campodarsego, Camposampiero, Fontaniva, Tombolo and San Giorgio in Bosco. In the Senate, in the next few hours I will present a parliamentary question to the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni: urgent economic support is needed and we ask that the European Solidarity Fund be activated to compensate communities, citizens and businesses for the huge damages suffered ".
