It's time for everyone, starting with the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, to put themselves on the fence. The president of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, in his greeting on the occasion of the first day of work of the National Conference of the Chambers of Commerce, underway in Florence, wanted to quote the words of Alcide de Gasperi after the war "when it was necessary to rebuild Italy from the rubble and at the same time build an authentic democracy".
“Well over a century of life characterizes this network of yours which has united experiences in the national territory and the Chambers of Commerce representing our entrepreneurs abroad from the outset, but your role remains young. The explanation lies in your being a permanent expression of society that changes and renews itself, transforms itself through economic categories and progresses in dialogue with institutions ”he added.
The President of the Republic then underlined that “our system is a global and local system. They are the constellations of our business system that attract attention from all over the world”. Because – added Mattarella – “alongside the champions, it is the experience of the agglomeration of small and medium-sized enterprises that attracts interest in Latin America, as in Africa, where I recently went. It is a model of relationship between economies and territories that is carefully observed everywhere, trying to reproduce it”.
"These are not easy times, starting with the ongoing war which in Europe is disturbing and altering our present and threatens the conditions of independence, freedom and well-being painstakingly built after the Second World War, above all through the farsighted choice of the unity of Europe” he added speaking of the war in Ukraine. Following the Russian Federation's aggression against Ukraine “thinking consequences are being determined, with inflation phenomena that may put the recovery into question. It is a challenge that concerns our entire system”.
After the pandemic, "our economic system was able to surprise and demonstrate unexpected resilience," added the head of state. "It is a great undertaking to ensure the progress of the whole country and in this undertaking you are, rightly, involved," he added. The head of state recalled the "social inequalities", as well as "territorial ones which, alongside the question of the South, also re-propose the theme of internal areas".
