Murder of Giulia Cecchettin, arrested in Germany Filippo Turetta: he will be in Italy within 48 hours

Filippo Turetta, the boy on the run for eight days accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, has been arrested in Germany Giulia Cecchettin whose body was recovered in Lake Barcis yesterday morning. The Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, said that “the boy will be in Italy within 48 hours to stand trial”.


“Once again as a husband, father and grandfather I apologize through the women of my family to all women for what men devoid of intelligence and love have done and continue to do, not only in our Country”, said the minister. “I will teach my nephew Matteo to look after his sister, hold her hand and accompany her in her life so that she can always be respected by all men,” he added.

The deputy prime minister, Matteo Salvini, hoped for maximum harshness on X against the girl's alleged murderer: “Good. If guilty, no reduction in sentence and life imprisonment,” she wrote.

Yesterday Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni commented on the discovery of the girl's body: “I followed the updates on the case with apprehension and, until the end, I hoped for a different epilogue. The discovery of Giulia's lifeless body Cecchettin This is heartbreaking news. We sympathize with the pain of his family and all his loved ones. I hope that full light will soon be shed on this inconceivable drama. Rest in peace".
