Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said that a victory for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the US presidential election would greatly strengthen democracy. “I am a lover of democracy. I think it is the best system of government that society has built in the world. Only democracy has made it possible for a turner to become president of the Republic three times,” Lula wrote on X, recalling his past as a worker. Democracy allows “adversaries a civilized dispute in the discussion of ideas, without violence. I think a victory for Kamala in the elections would be much safer for democracy in the United States,” he concluded.
