The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, expresses condolences, on behalf of the Italian government, for the passing of the President Emeritus of the Republic, Senator Giorgio Napolitano: "Thoughts and deepest condolences to the family".
The Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani he said he was “deeply saddened” by the death. “We have worked together for years in the European Parliament. I didn't share his ideas, but I consider him an important protagonist in Italian political history. I am close to his family,” he wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, expresses its condolences: “He was a protagonist of the political life of the country. A prayer and a thought for his loved ones”, the words of Minister Salvini.
“I greet with respect and emotion a protagonist of the political history of our country, a person who has shown me esteem and trust in difficult moments of Italian political life. I express heartfelt and sincere condolences to his family and to the people who were close to him" states the Minister of Economy Giancarlo Giorgetti who was appointed in 2013 by President Napolitano among the 10 wise men to develop a plan of institutional and economic reforms.
I am deeply saddened by the passing of the President Emeritus of the Italian Republic Giorgio Napolitano, declared the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, according to which Italy “is losing one of its most authoritative figures. Minister of the Interior from 1996 to 1998, a man of profound culture, a great protagonist in political life, serving the institutions and citizens for many years. His history and that of Italy were closely intertwined and his work certainly left an indelible mark. I express, on my behalf and that of the entire Ministry of the Interior, my deepest condolences to his wife Clio and his family" concluded the owner of the Interior Ministry.
Even the Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto expressed "deep condolences" for the passing away. “I express my deep condolences, those of the Ministry of Defense and all the personnel of the Armed Forces,” the minister wrote in a note, extending “the deepest condolences to his family and dearest loved ones.”
“On behalf of the 5 Star Movement and myself, I express my deepest condolences for President Napolitano” said the president of the 5 Star Movement, Joseph Conte. “Unfortunately, this is news that was in the air: we express the utmost sense of closeness and participation to his family,” he added.
