France will withdraw its military from Niger if a danger "too great" is created. French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu said this in a joint interview with the newspaper "Le Monde" together with his German counterpart Boris Pistorius. “Our soldiers on site are not currently in danger,” explained Lecornu speaking of the situation in Niger, where there has been a coup d'état.
“Niamey plays an important role in our logistical withdrawal from neighboring Mali,” underlined the minister, explaining that it is always positive “to keep interlocutors on site”.
