The leader of the opposition party Mother Armenia was arrested this morning, Andranik Tevanyan, due to the protests organized in the center of Yerevan, the capital of the Caucasian country. According to what was reported by the political group's social media profiles, "Tevanyan was arrested during a civil disobedience demonstration and taken to the Erebuni district police department." From Tuesday, due to developments in the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, groups of protesters gathered near the Armenian government building and the Russian embassy.
In some cases, demonstrators tried to storm the government building and break through the police cordon, forcing the officers present to use stun grenades. However, the police cordon in front of the Armenian government building resisted the assault attempts. The protests continued on Wednesday and yesterday, with new clashes between demonstrators and police in Piazza della Repubblica, right near the executive headquarters. This morning, it was also reported that protesters are calling for the prime minister's resignation Nikol Pashinyan they blocked an important city junction, avenue Myasnikyan, which connects the center of the Armenian capital with the peripheral areas and the interstate road that leads to Georgia.
