La Royal Navy ended the tradition of hiring Chinese citizens to work in warship laundries due to fears of possible espionage activities from Beijing. This was revealed exclusively by the newspaper "the Sun", according to which British intelligence fears that China could "threaten Chinese workers" to force them to divulge the secrets of the British Navy. The news comes after Britain's MI5 director Ken McCallum said Beijing had stepped up efforts to "steal secrets" from Britain's nuclear submarines. Currently, four Chinese citizens still work for the British Royal Navy. A source revealed to the newspaper that these four people passed the security checks.
