The Ukrainian president at the World Economic Forum in Davos Volodymyr Zelensky he failed to have a meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang. The Ukrainian authorities have made no secret that they want a meeting with their Chinese counterparts during the Forum, but despite the opportunity for talks offered by the event in Switzerland, Beijing has shown signs of not wanting to engage in dialogue.
According to two US sources consulted by the "Politico" information portal, the Chinese decision not to have a meeting with the Ukrainian counterpart was intentional. A Ukrainian source however denied that to Kiev have ever asked for an interview. Zelensky and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping had a telephone conversation last April and Beijing's envoy made a trip to Ukraine the following month. However, he recalled to "Politico", relations have become more impersonal since then and Kiev would like to restart a dialogue.
