The British Defense Minister, Grant Shapps, ordered the dispatch of a warship to the Gulf region amid fears of a missile escalation from Iran. HMS Diamond, a Type-45 destroyer, will reinforce other British Navy assets in the area as concerns grow over potential Iranian-backed attacks. The newspaper "The Telegraph" reports it.
Shapps said the deployment would “send a very clear message to Iran in particular and its proxies not to get involved in the Gaza conflict.” “With the activity in the Red Sea and the Houthis in Yemen not just firing missiles but now also intervening with ships, we think it's the right time to step up the force presence. We want to provide a level of reassurance to our many partners in that area,” concluded the minister.
