They raised doubts a Alone footage of the movements of the leader of North Korea Kim Jong-un during the official trip undertaken last week to Russia: as highlighted by the South Korean media, in fact, among the cars used by the North Korean leader's escort during road trips to Vladivostok were several black minivans produced by the South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai.
The issue has also surprised the South Korean authorities, who are wondering not only about the origin of the cars, but also and above all about the choice of the North Korean state media to film them repeatedly as part of a documentary on Kim's visit intended mainly for internal use. In the documentary lasting about an hour and a half, entitled "A historic moment: new milestone in North Korea-Russia relations", South Korean-made vans are filmed several times in formation around Kim's presidential car - a Mercedes -Benz – and the Hyundai emblem is clearly visible on the front of the cars, sometimes even in the foreground.
The South Korean Unification Ministry publicly expressed its surprise, underlining that in similar circumstances the North's state media usually hide the coats of arms of South Korean companies, and that at the moment it is not possible to establish why Pyongyang has not done the same in such a high profile video production.
