Finland: Poland will send soldiers to ensure border security with Russia

The Finnish border service has banned the entry of people cycling through checkpoints on the border with the Russian Federation

Poland will send troops to Finland to protect the border with Russia. This was stated by the director of the Polish Office for National Security, Jacek Sievera, on his Twitter profile: “There is an official request from allies to provide support before a hybrid attack on the Finnish border can occur. There Poland intends to respond positively to the request of our NATO ally and partner in the EU. A group of military advisors will provide on-the-spot information on border security issues, including at the operational level,” Severa said. According to the security official, the agreement on sending Polish military advisors to Finland was reached during a recent meeting between Finnish President Sauli Niiniste and his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda.
The director of the National Security Office underlined that the Finnish authorities will soon send an official request to Poland specifying what help they need. Subsequently, the exact number of Polish soldiers who will help Finland protect the border with Finland will be clarified Russian Federation. Finland has begun blocking entry from the territory of Russia due to the influx of irregular migrants. Therefore, the Finnish border service has prohibited entry to people cycling through checkpoints on the border with the Russian Federation.
